The White Horse

This is the restaurant down the street from our house, the White Horse. It is a beautiful combination of clean lines and antiques, modern art and old trophies, all with great food.

And, as an extra bonus, the waitstaff speak English! We still order in German since we need the practice, but it's reassuring to be able to ask questions in English if you need to. In fact, on this day the waitress sat down with us and taught me the proper way to ask for the check (I had been leaving a word out that I didn't even know existed.)

It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside.

I ordered the steak in onions and herbs. It's huge! The bowl of fries are also mine, and I had already eaten a salad (all part of the meal). Eric is having the thyme lamb braten with potatoes and zucchini. Emily just ordered the Spargel (white asparagus) cream soup - buttery, earthy heaven topped with fresh cream (I was immediately jealous when it arrived.) and a bowl of spatzle, which are a cross between noodles and dumplings. Vance had what he always has, everywhere we go ... schnitzel and fries.
