More on our House

Part of our living room ... So, these are our rolladens. The are housed out of sight in the window casings outside and can be lowered to keep in the heat or keep out the afternoon sun or intruders while you are on vacation. Everyone has them in every single window or glass door.
And there they disappear. As you can see, we've got some snow outside. See that square blue cushion under the window? That's Mommy's winter TV spot, next to the radiator. Sure we have comfortable furniture, but it's not heated, right?. And that's an elliptical machine between the couch and window. Sometimes it's too cold to go for a walk, but I live in the land of bakeries and fried schnitzel, which winter makes me crave, so you gotta do what you gotta do (because not going to the bakery is not an option).

And this, friends, is my German refrigerator - the whole thing, including the freezer. A few drinks and a couple of other things and you're full. It has the same facing as the cabinets. The first day we were there, I sent Emily to put something away, but she couldn't find the fridge.
Luckily the Army issued us an American fridge. It's down in the basement though, along with most of our pantry goods. You go down, put your stuff in a basket and come back upstairs to cook. (That's one of my market baskets on top of the cabinet. )
